Back from Hong Kong and missin' it!

It was a great vacation over at Hong Kong. It's a great place to shop, eat and shop! Basically shopped from morning to night and explored some of the tourist attractions, The Peak, Avenue of Stars, etc.

Food was great too, the famous Nathan Road porridge, the goose restaurant (apparantly the only chinese restaurant listed under Fortune 500) and even the street hawkers with their curry fishballs and beef organs.

People over there tend to be well dressed, I suppose it's the culture over there. Retail staff greets you cheerfully once you step in, it's quite a contrasting view when you compare this to Singapore.

I love the winter over there too! Gloomy and freezing cold weather, it's just so comfortable with the cold wind blowing against you.

Got myself a corduroy nike shoes over at Tsim Sha Tsui and a long sleeve shirt at the Peak. I guess my Chinese New Year shopping pretty done now.

Duty free spirits over at Changi Airport are cheap too, got myself a Absolut Vodka and Benedictine D.O.M. Was fascinated at the sight the cigarettes in huge quantity at the display racks, just think of the amount of tar!

Had a few hours of sleep before school. Gald that Ms. Maggie Goh still taking us for marketing, result out this week, posted on the notice board. I thought it's pretty dumb. Why can't they just go thru the script with us instead?

Getting back Open Technology and Business Systems and System Analysis and Design papers in the morning. Pretty worried over my result, I just have a feeling I didn't put in any effort for my System Analysis. If I gonna pass and at least get a decent result, I will reward myself after school.

Woohooo... Karaoke and Hong Kong.

Today Karaoke Compeition organised by BIT Interest Group was great! Although everything was in a rush, I think everyone enjoyed themselves, especially the particpants, enjoying the attention given by the guests.

Headed to Chinatown after the karaoke, just window shop around, didn't get anything. Gonna come back next week again. :)

Back to school today for Going Global Talk - Myanmar. It was probably my keen interest in cultural Exchange that make me sacrifice the afternoon. Overall, it was an interesting exchange of insights, delivered in a light-hearted manner, yet in depth. The presentation by Mr Argus Ang, Executive Director - RV Centre International Pte Ltd and Matthew Sim, Course Manager of Diploma in Business, was inspiring.

The talk ended with a fashion show by the Myanmar students, displaying their colorful Myanmar costumes.

I'm rather keen on the Melbourne Study Trip by my course though it's still in its tentative stage. I hate it when I have to pay in full for school trips, becos I don't have any EduSave! j'ai une grande famille, that's why.

Headed to Tampines Mall to shop for new clothings for the coming Chinese New Year. Couldn't get what I want, so decided to travel down to Chinatown. Gotten a Billabong shirt but couldn't get the jeans I want. The Levi's promoter doesn't look approachable.

Joined the queue at Lim Chee Guan for their sliced pork. Parents and sisters wanted it, don't wanna disappoint them. Don't understand why they are charging such exotic price compared to competitors, $44 per kg. I guess it got to be good from the long snaking queue.

Will be leaving for Hong Kong tomorrow, won't be updating till I'm back.

Had my last paper today, pretty alright, except for one careless mistake which I could think of now.

Sometimes, when we treat others well, we expect retrospect treatment from them. But yet I don't enjoy that kind of privilege. Really makes me doubt what's the point of helping others when you gain nothing.

Going Hong Kong this week, gonna take a break before the new term starts.

It was much more crowded today, might be because of the public holiday. Everywhere was packed, even the 2 food markets were not spared, ended up having our dinner at McDonalds instead.

System Analysis and Design paper was a complete disaster, Section A was basically crapping and Section B seems easy. I'm counting my luck on this.

Joined AC, Peter, Sharon, James and Willy on a shopping spree at Queensway Shopping Centre. Didn't get anything though I'm on the lookup for a new pair of shoes. Been eyeing the Timberland since Christmas. And of recent, vintage Adidas which I already owns a pair.

Oh, just found out, I have a direct bus from home to Queensway Shopping Centre. Great isn't it?

Suppose to join Aik Chuang for his girlfriend's concert at Esplanade, but reached home late and decided to give it a miss. Joined dad later on to visit Chinatown. It's a bustling red over there! I just love the Chinese New Year Festival mood. Took a few pictures, gonna upload it the next day. So keep a lookup.

Dull days ahead without my iPod. Lent it to Aik Chuang for his KL trip. Take care dude, have fun over there.

Basically went thru a 5 hours crash course to revise the whole Organisational Behaviour chapters the day before. Sister's textbook really helps alot in some of complex theories, such as negative reinforcement and expectancy theory.

Organisational Behaviour paper was pretty easy, but still, I expecting heavy deduction of marks for the last section.

Joined the TB030 peeps for lunch at Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits Restaurant over at Changi Airport. Not sure about them, but I'm worrying over tomorrow System Analysis and Design paper, mainly becos I haven't touch a single chapter yet and it's not a subject which I'm comfortable with.

Suddenly we have plan to go traveling together and I pretty excited over it. Still at the tentative stage, so gonna wait for those taking Travel Planning modue to work up the plan.

Can you believe it? YiQuen going KL this thursday in the middle of test week! Gee, I wonder how he's gonna study for the last paper, Open Technology.

Had my marketing paper in the afternoon. It's pretty straightforward, easier than what I expected. Somehow, I have a feeling I'll flunk the last section, hmm... maybe I worry too much.

Today, I received good news regarding my internship. However, even with this good news, I'm still actively searching for internship offer. Always a better deal somewhere. It's suppose to be a hush-hush thingy, so that's as far as I could go revealing it.



Now, back to my Organisational Behaviour revision. Au revoir.

Family matters

It was a difficult choice, my sister birthday celebration or marketing. It was the former at the end. Headed to Crystal Jade Restaurant with my sisters and parents in the evening for dinner cum celebration. I would not recommend Crystal Jade Restaurant for large gatherings. The food was great, but the serving of each dishes does not command the price they're charging. I could almost count the number of vegetable stalks.

Junction 8 changed quite alot ever since my last visit while I'm working at Inland Revenue. I think it's great, gonna visit the mall again for my Chinese New Year clothes.

Started on my revision today, which I felt was a little late with my test next week. I'm glad my tutor, Ms. Maggie Goh, took the effort by giving us additional notes for the coming marketing test. A pity she won't be taking us for marketing for the next term.

End of 1st term

Submitted Phase 1 of Open Technology and Business Systems today. Had only 2 hours of sleep, before rushing for early marketing lecture. Did the last part - Self Reflection in school on the deadline itself since I reckoned it should be easy with all the tech talk.

Had a chat with Mr. Peh today. He simply amazes me with his life planning. He's a holder of 3 degrees and right now he's actually studying for his fourth degree in Law. It's a pity he's leaving soon, but with Mrs Lai promotion to Deputy Director, he might stands a chance for the post of Course Manager.

Stayed back in school to help Peter and Faith with their project, though I didn't help much. What a coincidence that Peter's friend was my ex-classmate in primary school. She actually called Peter to confirm who I am, yeah, I couldn't recognise her since it's more than 10 years since our last meeting.

Dad fetched me at 8.30 after helping Faith with her project. Faith freaked out when she discovered the office is locked. Yeah, what a surprise twist in the end. :P

End of the first term, gonna mug for my coming term test.

It's amazing I'm actually blogging when I have a project submission tomorrow. :)

French test was bad. very bad. I think I flunked my listening test, I'm hoping for a overall pass with my written test. oh well. I am going to put in extra effort for the french project to make up for the mid semester test. Oh, I'm doing french beers, gonna visit Carrefour soon.

Said Mr Sim, "Actually, to me it's a big let-down: we're expecting a good fight but they're coming out with something that's five generations older. It's our first generation MuVo One product feature, without display, just have a (shuffle feature). We had that -- that's a four-year-old product.

"So I think the whole industry will just laugh at it, because the flash people -- it's worse than the cheapest Chinese player. Even the cheap, cheap Chinese brand today has display and has FM. They don't have this kind of thing, and they expect to come out with a fight; I think it's a non-starter to begin with."

No doubt, there's some truth in that statement. With 1GB of storage that stores up to 240 songs, one may wonder, "How am I going to play my favourite song when there's no LCD display?". 0.41% chance you might get the song you want, go figure.

It's a design flaw covered and hyped up with marketing.

Serious time management needed

French class was a total embarrassment today. I been concentrating hard on my Organisational Behaviour and Open Technology and Business System that I neglected my french. I was caught dumbfounded by several questions.

Joined Zhi, Max and Ellen for lunch before attending Further Education talk by NUS and NTU with Max. Find the talk to be quite enriching. Just hope I could enter local university to continue my studies.

Dad fetched me today for afternoon tea. Reached home just in time to spot my sister in her car. I was looking foward to meeting her ever since she announced her pregnancy. She's fine except for the occasional nausea.

Going to burn the midnight oil tonight, having my mid semester french test the next day.

My perspective

Planned to watch Meet the Fockers alone today straight after my last lesson since I have 4 hours break before the Students' Forum. But after seeing how hardworking Sharon and friends were, I decided to join them. The butter popcorn from Jupiter was great and the serving was enough even for the 4 of us, worth every dollar, go try it.

On our way to the classroom, this uncle waved at Sharon. Guess what? He's giving free sandwiches! Suppose to refill the sandwiches vending machine, but apparently, 2 got stuck and he decided to give us a free treat. It's just too much of a coincidence eh?

Gate crashed their System Analysis and Design remedial lesson. I think their tutor's great. They have checkpoint every week to ensure they are on the right track for their project. Even though my tutor is the subject leader, I just felt that she wasn't putting enough effort, though she quite experienced in the subject.

Attended the Students' Forum with Sharon on behalf of the interest group. The topics was pretty good and realistic but the questions asked by students weren't, some questions were just plain ridiculous. The female emcee was especially annoying, a few of the students were boo-ing at her.

Haven't been myself lately. A little gloomy, I suppose. I'm still searching for the original Hungarian version of Gloomy Sunday. Here's a short introduction of that song,

The start of a busy week

Just not in the mind to start on my Open Technology and Business System individual report. I been in front of thr computer doing nothing, just brainstorming on what to write. I can't even start off the first paragraph, sigh.

Now we have Katong Laska at the comfort of Temasek Polytechnic Tampines campus. Gave it a try this afternoon, not that bad, almost like the real McCoy, except it's lacking something.

Perhaps I'm oversensitive over what I posted yesterday. A sincere apology to the party concerned.

Oh, I'm overjoyed! With regards to yesterday good news, I gonna be an uncle soon. :P

I'm fine.

It has been a long time since my last visit to Hougang Mall. Headed there today to purchase a 512MB PC2700 SODIMM, pardon the technicial jargon, basically, it's memory for my Apple Powerbook laptop. Time for a speed boost with the extra memory juice, eh?

Hougang Mall was once a past hangout of mine, visited the library almost daily and hide and seek over there. I was pretty young then. Ahhh.. those were the days. I'm surprise the mall still retains it's charm with the nearby heartlanders, it was as crowded as before.

Accompanied my sister after reaching home to Ang Mo Kio. Had dinner together with her and brother-in-law before doing a little shopping.

Organisational Behaviour group project going on smoothly, completed 1 page in the first night, though I gonna touch one more theory before doing the final touchup. It's strange that I'm the only one doing the project, when it's a group project.

Anyway, to set the record straight, I DON'T PULL PEOPLE IN TO JOIN I-GUIDES. I don't do some hard selling sales pitch and force people to join i-Guides. You have a choice and a mind of your own, so don't make it look like I'm pulling people in. I ain't earning commission.

This enough to make my blood boils for awhile, but I'm expecting some good news tomorrow, so I not going to care about this for the moment.

I'm hooked.

I know this is a bad time, but I'm hooked on Naruto! I told myself, I need to complete at least half of Organisational Behaviour progress report by today, but Naruto was simply irresistible. I watched 4 episodes straight in a row!

Decided on my business domain for Open Technology individual project, an online shopfront retailing contemporary clothings. Basically the business domain is secondary to the main objective of creating an efficient shopping cart system, it's more of an interest kind of stuff.

I just can't stop thinking of next week. 2 tests and 2 deadlines. Volunteered to represent the interest group for the upcoming students' forum since the President couldn't make it. Me and my botched time management.

Having i-Guides workshop in the morning. I just hope the whole workshop will end quickly without silly ice-breaking games. If not for attendance sake, I rather focus on my deadlines. owell.

Je parle francais, Je ne suis pas libre!

It's just another crazy day.

With deadlines just around the corner and not a single one completed or at least on the right track, I beginning to wonder, is it me or just the new class. Am I still the usual me, able to produce miracle at the last minute or have I lost my magic touch? It's not like the previous semester when I'm coping with 6 subjects, for goodness sake, it's just 5 subjects!

Pondering on, it seems that I'm the only serious one in my group, at least, trying to be serious. But it's hard when your group mates sidetrack and I get interested in their conversation.

Rushed to school in a cab and to find my tutor missing from the tutorial. Tried to search for suitable article for the project with my another group mate from Logistics & Operations Management, but it was a fruitless search.

Gotten back my 2nd french test, it was a pass, not bad for a last minute study.

2 deadlines next week, vocab and mid semester test for french next week. This going to deprive me of my precious sleep again.

Another look at my calendar, I'm starting to wonder, how could someone cope with such tight schedule without a visit to a shrink? Filled to the brink, I can hardly make myself available to spend a few moments with my friends and family.

After a few months of procrastinating, the BIT notice board is finally up! Thanks to Sharon for helping out.

Went for lunch at the airport with AC after class. The food over at Popeye was great, except that the fried chicken tasted like MarryBrown. Which is bad.

Discussed Open Technology over lunch before AC guide me around the airport. The airport should employ him as a tour guide eh? There's this open area with breathtaking view of the airport surrounding. It's great with the wind against you, but I'm melting under the sun with my cardigan.







I just realised that Organisational Behaviour progress report is next week and till now, my group haven't even started. I guess I will just complete the progress report on my own.

Big Unknown!

Unlike previous semesters, my tutors seem to be very lenient this semester. I was late for Open Technology lab today, yet I was still marked present. Mind you, being late for more than 15 min constitutes to an absent.

Anyone know where can I get decent long sleeve shirt for causal wear? Headed to the nearby mall to scout around alone today. G2000 and U2 do have a few decent shirts but the design is more for tucking in. Quite keen on ordering online from American Eagle Outfitters, but the expensive shipping put me off.

Oh yeah, I'm waiting for my new iPod t-shirt from US.

Channel 5 airing The Big Unknown 2! I'm so looking forward to this! It's a documentary on students studying in a foreign universities. They have Sam, a singaporean studying in Germany, majoring in English and minoring in German, Doris, studying in Beijing, majoring in Gu-zheng and Mike, an Pole, on exchange program in Singapore. Mike seem to be a little shy for a caucasian.

French test tomorrow, guess I'll stop here.

traumatized

Hasn't been like this for a long time. Feeling so traumatized, emotional and down. No, it's not schoolwork, if you might ask.

Today Student Internship Programme (SIP) briefing was a wakeup call to how fast I'm approaching the end of my diploma studies. A few months more to the start of my internship and before you knew it, it's the last semester of my 3rd year.

2 years of conscription before facing the crossroad, yet again.

Back from my digressing, we are offered 3 choices, self procurement, startup and assignment by school. I guess I'll try my luck at self procurement before resigning my fate to the school. I heard of horrible stories of students assigned as salesman, that is totally irrelevant to their course of study. I hope I won't end up being the one sharing such horrible story of my own.

Still got the blues. sigh.

A little too late for New Year greeting?

It's 2 in the morning now, 2nd day of a brand new year. The move to a new year was seamless, almost nonexistent.

Spent the new year eve with Ronald, Ling, Zhi and her boyfriend. Zhi was kind enough to offer us a place for a small gathering and playing host. Met up with them at the supermarket and bought a whole load of food for steamboat. It was quite a splendid dinner, though I could have eaten more if not for the heavy lunch with Faith and friends in the afternoon.

We had our fun till 1 in the morning after celebrating Zhi's boyfriend birthday. Dad wanted to pick me up, but apparently, Ronald was misinformed with bus services ending at 1.45am. Turn up it was only for town feeder service. Took a cab home but alighted halfway through the journey when dad decided to pick me up.

2004 came and went, just like this. There's nothing that I desired more than world peace and good health to everyone.

2005 going to be an exciting journey ahead when my work attachment starts next semester. I hope I won't end up in an attachment that's irrelevant to my course of study and of course, the chance for overseas posting.

One month more to the lunar Chinese New Year. Boy, I'm so looking forward to the bustling Chinatown and the festival mood.
