Today is a long day, zzz.

Reached school early in the morning (woah, my first time). Meet up with Kat, Ava and James before proceeding to the meeting area. Got our matric cards scanned and when we got our t shirt, I realise they are doing that thing again. WE WON'T BE GETTING THE SIZE WE ASKED FOR. wtf? They promised us they will give us the size we want, now this is happening again. I got an L size and this is freaking big, I can wear that as my night dress or something.

The briefing is damn draggy, they talked so much crap, can't they just get serious for once (as in the committee). They are a whole bunch of rambutan, opps, i mean, childish brats, all trying to be funny. Their jokes are damn lame, forcing me to stood to their level, trying to make myself laugh at their lame jokes. I choose to be a roamer, as the name implies, I roam about, guiding those who enter the poly themselves without going together as a school.

Lunch is extremely boring. Usually I can find myself having lunch alone without any problem, but with the ugly uniform, I feel damn wierd walking in the school of business. We got to tuck in our polo T and I got an L size, tucking out will make me look like I am wearing a night dress.

Finally our duties commenced. I went to guide my friends from my secondary school. They say I am very enthusiastic, maybe they haven't see a better one yet. So we went School of Business, their only interest. Nothing much lar, just bring them around, talk crap, market myself, market the school, blah blah blah.

The second group is damn stressful. The group have a girl which is a graduated student of NUS, majoring in Chinese language or something. CHINESE LANGUAGE! WOAH. ok, at least she speaks chinese and everyone of the group also speak chinese. There this particular girl which I have a liking. She got those very "art" student look, she's interested in design course anyway. Bring them to the mass comm thingy and also to school of Applied Science as one of the girl like science. In the end, she told me she won't be coming as she want to take some sports and personal wellness diploma in NYP. fine, after all the talking. -_-

It's the time to go home and the committee have some great idea of dancing in the concourse. ok, I think this is fun, I enjoyed myself cos I got a proper dance mate, which is quite eh... ok, try not to get myself out of point. So we danced, in front of all the whole school population, it's fun la.

So they got another crazy idea of saying bye to everyone at the bridge. I think it's lame, but oh well. I can't believe we stand there for 2 hours doing all the stupid cheers. goodness.

The debriefing is damn draggy. Everyone's complaining, school of business, school of ITAS, woah, this is what make us singaporean, our love for complaining. I almost wanna fall asleep. The i guides complained for like 2 hours, the whole fugly debriefing ends at 7.45. crap. I complained about the oversized polo T, and that guy say he will look into it. YA RIGHT.

I took a cab home as I am feeling kinda sick. I can almost feel the stomach walls fusing together. heck. bad experience.

Another day of madness tomorrow, better get some sleep.

February 11, 2004

Suppose to attend NMM lecture, oh well, not in the mood to go school so early.

Went back after NMM lecture to hand up my psychology stuff and also pass Ivan some printed materials. Heard from Faith and Nadia that I keep sticking out my tongue during the interview, damn, screwed. -_-

Followed Sharon to Madam Tan office, she wanna hand in her observation, so just tag along. Madam Tan mentioned something about "So Brandon, are you alright now?". hell yeah, I am so not alright.

Had a hard time finding Mr. Neufeld room in the school of ITAS. At least, it's off my workload now.

Went for a haircut after this. You people must have notice a pattern. A haircut before any major event. My i guides starts tomorrow and I just feel that my hair is kinda long and untidy.

Suppose to repair someone's computer at Chua Chu Kang, but she didn't respond to my call, so I just stay at home and slack. Had a cold beer while playing game.

Working on my communication skills journal now. ta ta.

February 10, 2004

Everytime I wear formally, this kind of stuff happen. I took a cab to school and the taxi driver was extremely friendly to me. Had your lunch? Just leave your house? blah blah blah. Still remember the first time wearing formally for the first term, the driver mistaken me for some lecturer.

Took the lift up to the concourse area from the Engineering block as they blocked the driveway to business block. The male student inside the lift was so polite, "which level, sir?" tsk, do I really look that old?

Went INT school to bind my proposal, Jason and his girl saw me. "wow, Brandon, since when you become a lecturer". AGGRH.

Today Networked Multimedia is a breeze. Let that tutor check on my proposal, except for some slight improvement, everything is fine. He commented he likes my 3rd concept. Great, something to work on with.

I got totally screwed during the interview. I think I sound kinda soft and I was very nervous. I am not making any sense, I think I just got myself a F grade or something. When it's time for me to ask questions, I got it screw up too. I asked, how many departments and what's the employees' strength of your organization? That Madam Tan shoot back, "What if I tell you it's a one man show?". I was totally stunned, she give me a very evilish smile. Heck.

On my way home, got apporached by the insurance agent, asking me to buy insurance. When he found out that I am a student, he said something like, wow, you look very professional. -_-

Seriously, do I look like a business executive in my formal wear?

Sigh. Screwed interview, now working on my psychology.

February 09, 2004

Too tired today, just don't know why. Couldn't summon the energy and the interest I have for my studies. I was practically falling asleep for today lectures and tutorials.

"Poison" distribution quite ok, at least I understand what it is all about. Now it's all practice and practice. Plain mathematics stuff.

Borrowed color pencils from Tian Nee, spare me from spending a few bucks on it.

Skipped today business stats lecture as I do not have the new notes. Not exactly skip, but the lecturer invite those who do not have the new notes out of the lecture.

Went out with Ivan and Chan Hui after skipping the lecture. We went Tampines Mall delifrance to eat, drink and make merry. Got a file to store my certificates for tomorrow interview.

Right now, I am feeling damn nervous for tomorrow interview. I don't mind if its a one to one interview, but it's a panel interview with all my classmates staring at me. My pop encouraged me by saying you don't have to be scare, just behave as normal.

My pop just make fun of my chinese. Frankly speaking, I am quite a disgrace to my family. I am the only one who flunked my chinese. My pop is chinese educated, studied in some chinese high school before going over to university and become a lecturer. I communicate with my family in chinese, but I just dislike the language, I can speak, but when it comes to writing, I just sucks at it. Think I will be branded as a "banana" for the rest of my life. Perhaps I take on after my english educated mom.

Chatted with Ron just now on his personal problem. It's amazing how one person can affect a person's feeling so much. I feel sad for him in a way or so. But just ask him to take life easily, something which I can never achieve.

Listening to "Yesterday" by Beatles. It's the only song I like by them, it's very vocal, my style of music. At the same time, trying to complete my NMM proposal and read through my interview book which my sister bought for me. It's quite helpful.

Feeling depressed. Sigh.

February 08, 2004

Wow, my brother in law bought an iPod. It's great! I am so tempted to get one too...

My sisters are back today. Asked one of them to help me with my interview on tuesday by providing some commonly asked questions. Gee, she bought me a book instead. It's really helpful, it has all the questions you will expect from interview and provide some sample questions on asking the interviewer.

Submitted my draft solution for communication skills, finally it's off my shoulder. Now concentrating on my Networked Multimedia proposal. Trying to get it done before tomorrow so I can read through the interview questions to prepare myself.

I hate the proposal. The upper sections still quite alright for me, just type some crap and make it look nice, a nice crap. But when it comes to screen design, it sucks. I like art, but not the practical part of it. I know nuts about drawing. Why can't they allow the use of Fireworks to draw the concept? Not to mention, spare me from spending money to get color pencils. Got to buy color pencils just for the purpose of doing this. Waste of money.

Back to my proposal. zzz.
Quite a long day today for the workshop. From 8.30am to 6.15pm, exhausted from all the work. We had fun before the serious work. Quite a few games we played, not to mention the dances, which have become my favourite. Danced with a girl, which is a total stranger to me, forgotten the dance moves, but both of us still manage to have some fun.

We start packing the welcome goodie bags after lunch. The girl besides me suffered quite alot. I was stuffing the leftlets like crazy and she was packing slowly, in the end, after I have completed, she has a large piles of goodie bags to pack.

The crazy part of today workshop, carrying half the goodie bags to School of Information Technology. Was sweating like a loose water tap under the hot sun, make 3 trips somemore. Then our group played a few games, which there's one which I like most, you are suppose to shout 1, 2, 3... 8, 9, 10. When you reach any number that is a multiple of 7 or has a 7 in it, you are suppose to say up.

Really looking forward to the open house. Got to know quite a few friends from this, Kat from School of Applied Science and Ava from School of Engineering.

Almost half of my class joining the SYF thingy, class spirit man! I just hope everyone will be selected.

Told one of my godsisters about my intention to study and work overseas. She was like, ahh... will miss you blah blah blah. My parents want me to study overseas, so most likely it's either Australia or UK after serving the nation. Should I work overseas for a few years to gain some experience? Strange to plan for my future now when I still have endless of deadlines to meet.

February 06, 2004

Hey, the first friday I took a bus to school. Always couldn't make it for the early business accounting lecture, changing for the better yea. Initally, was feeling quite sleepy during the micro economics tutorial, keep on rubbing and massaging my eyes to keep me awake. Suddenly the class starts to discuss something that's not micro economics related, this got me aroused. My tutor isn't that fierce actually but during the lecture, he is. He's quite good in teaching too, unlike some other tutors.

Went to check the interview listing with Sharon, Han, Mishell and boss. Guess what? I got selected for the interview and I am neither excited nor happy. Got to wear formally on that day and with a group of classmates staring at me, damn, I hate this. Better get some interview tips from my sisters. sigh.

Went school library twice today. First was with Boss, searching for his fine cuisine books. Second, was with Ivan and Tian Nee, searching for badminton and wushi books respectively. Today isn't a good day for Ivan yea? All the badminton books got borrowed. We decided to go Tampines together, first to collect my spectacles and secondly, search for books relating to badminton in the national library.

AHH! It's just feel great to wear back my new spectacles, my pocket feel much lighter though. Well, over at National library, same situation, no badminton books, only left one miserable looking black and white book on badminton, poor Ivan. heh.

We took the same bus together as he is going Ang Mo Kio. We chatted quite happily, shared quite a few comical moment of our life. Especially during the last part, *winks*.

Organized my schedule for next week. Six deadlines to meet, wonderful. With my i Guides workshop tomorrow, interview on tuesday, open house on thursday and friday, and I dead or what? Trying to rush everything before the beginning of next week. Damn, I am feeling very stressed. I need a massage or something.
Spoken to my dad the day before. Was asking for his opinion on me, travelling overseas for work experience. I was thinking he will give me comment like, "no, it's dangerous", "you are too young for it", "you can't even take care of yourself". On the contrary, he was strongly supportive of my plan. Actually, I was talking to him about an email which I received in my TP mailbox, "Opportunities for summer work and adventure in USA and UK". Given a choice, I will go UK, my dad concur with my choice too. Will attend the talk and think about it again.

Today isn't exactly a great day for me. Went Tampines to get a replacement lens for my spectacles. The optican told me that my lens is not a seiko. I remembered clearly I asked for a seiko lens and the optican (other shop) promised me too. No choice, I get another replacement that isn't Seiko or Nikon. Cost me $130 buck, sigh. Decided not to get a quality lens since I might be changing my frames to Oakley 02 in the near future.

Got a 10/10 grade for my psychology quiz, quite happy for awhile, but got a below standard grade for my research methods quiz. Got to rush my psychology experimental project before the deadline next week, sigh, so many projects, so little time.

Went library after that, found a rather interesting guide book on London, "Virgin Guide to London". Can't borrow it as I already borrow the maximum amount already.

During the psychology lecture, must smart ass shout at the whole population of the lecture hall to shut up. Dutch courage eh? Think he's cool or something. I am not talking, as I am sitting alone, but I hate this type of bloody act smart hero. After that, many follow suit, one shouted "shut up leh" another, "SHUT UP! Hey people, can we just finish this lecture and keep it short?". Dumb.

Have Yu Sheng again. This time, there's raw salmon, sea bass and octopus, Yu Sheng in Japanese style. It tastes great! Today is the last day of new year, so having Yu Sheng again.

Sigh, in a state of despair now. Gonna sleep. zzz.

February 05, 2004

Outside the lecture hall...
Eh... I suppose at this time of I will be in the lecture hall, listening to that funny female teacher lecturing. Well, I didnt. Was late for school cos' I was preparing my stuff to bring to Ricky's house to setup his sister computer. I reached school 10 min after the lecture started. This female teacher always pop questions and make fun of latecomers, one reason why I don't want to enter the lecture hall now.

Don't think I will miss much of the lesson, got some basic in dreamweaver and fireworks, maybe I will just download the lecture slides and do some self study at home. Something good about IT subjects, you can always learn it at your own pace, unlike business subjects. Changed the appointment time with Ricky to 1pm, got to go Sim Lim Square now, ta ta.

Bought a compex wireless router, compex wireless USB adaptor, compex wireless PC Card and a 40GB hard disk. I can't believe it, Ricky actually spent $80 on a mousepad! It's made of steel and I think it's dumb. My everglide mousepad only cost me 1/4 of his. Over at his house, installed the router and all the stuff for his sister computer. Yea, he's kinda excited about surfing wirelessly in his house, but sadly, he will be leaving tomorrow.

My dad fetch me from his house, he been there twice, so he know the way yea? It's a condo at Thomson. My dad and I went Suntec for dinner before going to the Hong Bao River. He bought a "jia pu"? Yea, my chinese sucks, it's actually a list of your ancestors, those bearing the same chinese surname during the different dynasty. Speaking of that, our family have one of those, my dad commissioned someone from the village to compile it.

AGGRH. Damn pissed off. Was keeping my spectacles when one of the glass came loose and drop on the floor. As you will have guess it, my seiko lens broke into hundred of pieces. There's gone by 100 buck. Great. So I am back to the old spectacles, yucks. My lesson ends at 7pm, great, I won't have the time to get it done by tomorrow. I am in a perfect mood to get angry and I can't believe it Boss actually asked me permission for bringing his laptop to school. How odd will it get? Asking me whether can he bring his own laptop to school? I am in no mood for such nonsense now. Another one, Gareth asked me something which can he easily located in the textbook? What is quasi experiment? HELLO?!? WHAT IS THE TEXTBOOK FOR? DAMN IT.

February 03, 2004

In the library...
Typing this section in the library now. Today PBL session is quite fine, Sharon doing her interview stuff, even the teacher says something about the notes being good or something. Yeah, Sharon mentioned that my jeans is nice, my Levis engineered, heh. Wanna get another pair of engineered, but of a different texture and shade. A few weeks more, been spending quite alot for early feb already.

Managed to get a better harvest this time. Got the Lonely Planet Guide to London, something which I am looking for since last week. I always trust the source from Lonely Planet, my sisters always get their guide before traveling overseas. The guide is quite frank in their comment, read about a comment on a chinese eatery having bad services. The more I look at all those London books, the more I yearn to travel to London. The scenery is breathtaking and the gothic architecture is amazing. My sister got to travel to London alone just after she graduate from Polytechnic, damn, I am jealous. After my diploma, I will have to serve the nation before proceeding to my degree studies. Sigh.

Flipped through a book, "Think of England" by Martin Parr, it's actually a photography book depicting the sight of England, it's very nicely taken. Generally, the normal mindset of a novice photographer like me is to take razor sharp photos, however, Martin Parr has managed to express the culture well using grained pictures. Those effect are usually obtained using high speed film/slides, his ability to capture it using high speed film/slides in broad daylight is amazing. Somehow, I have a feeling that he used slides (most professionals do) for the photos, slides have a unusual color compared to normal film. Speaking of this, I remember I still have a roll of slides in my refrigerator, suppose to use it for my photo outing at Botanic Garden, but didn't have the time. Just a little add on, films and slides can be stored in refrigerator to prolong the lifespan, it's harmful to put them outside without the proper cooling, especially in sunny Singapore.

Maybe I choose the correct topic for my networked multimedia, too engrossed in it. I got the content, now I only need to have some design ideas on how to plan the outline of the website.

Hell yea, enjoying every moment of communication skills. Madam Tan is good, she rocks. Except that she forgotten to mention about me in the group work. How can get Marcus be any better than me? What he do in the online discussion is posting 1 lined comment, "Yes, I agree." and blah blah blah. I think I am much better than him, seriously. I am not ashamed to say, "Darren, Beaven and I are the only people contributing".

During communication skills, have lots of fun. Got to be interviewer in the role play. I keep shooting questions at Xiaowan, hell yea, Sharon's interview notes sure come into good use.

Went for my psychology group discussion after communication skills. WOAH! Vanessa using a Mac laptop!!! I think it's the same model as my brother-in-law. I just love how a Mac works. The front LED will light up when in operation. Well, we discussed together and the other guy (damn, forgotten his name again) and me were making fun of Vanessa, yea, I think we 3 simply rocks. After that, went home together with that guy, we were talking about how beautiful Vanessa was, you know, the usual boys' talk. Somehow, I think he look alot like mine cousin which I have never contact for a long time.

On the bus ride home, my beautiful sleep got interrupted by a silly kid. He was shouting, laughing, jumping about. Worse still, in front of my seat. Can't the mother take the child in hand? I mean, when I was young, I don't behave like this in public, at least, at my age, I don't take public transport. I am a quiet, shy and innocent boy when I was young. Even till now, I am still one. Yeah.

Got to do my micro economics and networked multimedia now. work work work!

February 02, 2004

Didn't go out with Ricky today. Message him before sleeping, informing him I can't turn up as I am real tired (ya right). Actually I slept quite late the night before. I went to install my laptop wireless network card, it doesn't work at that time when I bought it, I know it's some driver problem, but I just place it aside and until now, it start to see the light again. Well, it works, surprisingly. Now I am hooked on my wireless router at a much faster speed.

Done my online posting for communication skills in the afternoon. The teacher must be angry or something, she typed her mail in cap, it's either her keyboard is spoil, or we spoiling her mood. I just search the net and post what I am suppose to do. Quite a few hardworking guys in my group, posted so many stuff that I have nothing much to add on. Strong competition out there.

I suppose 2 or 3 more weeks I will be in my business attire again. Flipped through the syllabus, got to have some role play stuff. Speaking of that, I think I will have to waste more money for a suit or something. They give points for attire and how presentable you look. Mind you, I will have to spend $150. sigh.

For the rest of the afternoon, my computer was left aside for ripping the DVD which Han pass to me. It's actually their presentation video. DVD ripping comsume quite alot of your CPU juice, 2 hours to encode a less than an hour video. Laugh myself silly looking at Mayvis acting like Virginia Cheng, not to mention how funny Willy look.

I can't believe I actually agree to help Peter with his fund transfer stuff. He want me to transfer $2.5k to his friend's account when he can just transfer it straight from his own account to his friend. It makes me wonder whether is there any illegal stuff involve in it. I just hope it's a no. I can't put too much trust in a friendship, having faced so many disappointment once too many.

Right now listening to Norah Jones album and trying to force myself to do business accounting 2 tutorial. Wanted to do my Business Stats, but flipping through the pages, I know nuts. Didn't attend the lecture on saturday as I overslept. Wanted to download the presentation slides, only to find that it's not uploaded. Now I have 2 unknown topics to learn, Biomial & Poisson Distribution. Doesn't sounds any friendly to me, it's poisioning my mind though.

Got to wake up early for the problem based learning stuff again. Sharon presenting her interview research finding, I just hope that Madam Tan won't be too harsh on us. Lugging my laptop along, to do some research on London for my networked multimedia in the library. Also got to show the 2 commercial advertisement I downloaded from the internet for my psychology discussion with Vanessa and .... hmm... what's the guy's name? never mind, it's a guy from my group.

Friendship lagging badly, it was blazing fast yesterday, trying to add 10 friends whom I know from the i Guides take up half the night.

My so called "friends" message me, saying they still treat me as a friend. I have grow to live without them, being a loner isn't much of a suffering. I admit I am harsh in passing judgement, but if I know I am in the wrong, I will surely admit to my mistake. Right now, I can either take it or leave it, for this friendship. Yes, we could resume back to where we are, but it will never be the same. I have friends which exploit me in repairing/upgrading their computer, after it has been completed, they just brush me aside. Usually what I do to this type of people, I usually ignore them. Well, they ignored me in the first place, I guess I am not in any wrong.

Sigh, enough, got to do my stuff.

P.S The last paragraph does not apply to anyone from my Polytechnic, it's some outsiders not from our social circle.
I have lots of thing to talk about, so please bear with me.

Slept for a record breaking 12 hours, without the air conditioner switched on. Usually I will wake up when the room get hot without the air conditioner switched on. Guess I am just too tired.

Had an early dinner which was suppose to be my lunch. Took a shower before rushing down to Sharon's birthday party. Long journey, from my house to Boon Lay and still has to change bus. Think of her traveling daily to Temasek Polytechnic, it's gonna be a killer.

The party was great, lots of fun and jokes around. At first, I am not in my normal mood, guess the drink splashing incident affected me. It was my 2nd times wearing that shirt afterall. Being to cheer up at the sight of the glorious food, yummy. As I said before, I get angry easily when I am hungry, so don't mess with me when I am hungry. :)

We have hellva fun with chocolate stained tissue, Sharon's face was totally brown with it, haha. Well, hope she won't get bitten by the ants when she sleep tonight. The chocolate cake taste good, yea? Quite rich, but a little sweet to my liking, I always prefer dark and bitter chocolate. Her family was quite friendly too, providing us with more cakes and drinks.

While walking home, Sharon offered Alan a chance to handle the dog, think he give the chain quite a hard pull, the dog's collar came off, and Sharon's dog was running all over, causing quite a stir in the neighbourhood. I experience it before, with my schnauzer. I was quite young at time, think the gate was left open, and he just ran out. I had a hard time chasing him back home. Everyone tat the bus stop was staring at me chasing a dog, think I must be a nutcase or something.

Managed to catch the last train for everyone of us. But I guess those who need to transfer to another train service or bus have to take a cab or something. I dropped off at Aljunied with Michell and Jesslyn. Michell went off first, while Jesslyn and me went to get cup noodles. As usual, my dad came and fetch me.

Just visited my friend's blog. He's from my poly class actually. I think both of us share something similar, our doubt in friendship. He don't really put his trust in friends, something which I do. Having betrayed by people which I thought my secret will be safe with, I started to put lesser trust in others, being so, resulted in my introvert self. He prefer to look to the future just like me. Before the release of my O's level result, I already done my research on the various which I can take should I flunk it, overseas, ITE, private diploma have been in my consideration list. Even now, I already planned what I be doing after my diploma.

Ricky asked me out for lunch tomorrow, he actually suggested night safari. I was hesitating. I usually do my studies at night, don't really want to come back so late, specially when I am having classes the next day. But, he just came back from Australia and will be going back this thursday, don't wanna disappoint him. Sigh. As a matter of fact, I don't really want to go out tomorrow. It's 4am now, I don't think I will be able to make it at 12. I will let fate decides on the best path to take. If I can wake up before 10, I will go.

I am quite looking forward to the next i Guides workshop. This saturday as a matter of fact. I love making friends (ya right). The real thing will be next thursday and friday, I hope I can guide well. Maybe I love the feeling of being in control, having authority, that's what I enjoy most being the vice chairman of my club. Skip lessons, scold prefects, complain to the principal. Some of the thing I have done.

Signing off from here.
