Light at the end of the tunnel

The term test are finally over. I have a feeling that I will fare badly for today 2 papers. Reason being the lack of time for preparation. 5 papers straight in 3 days without any break in between for revision, not to mention the 2 subjects today are those memorizing intensive. It's over, I will just wait for judgement day the week after next.

Went for a little celebration at Tampines Mall. Watched I, Robot alone. Guess what? I was sitting right in front of Beven and his friend! Quite a coincidence, yea? I did heard someone mentioning Brandon behind, but was busy unpacking my titbit from my sling bag. Then, my cellphone rings, the moment I took up my cellphone, Beven say hi from behind. I think it's rather humorous meeting him under such situation. It's a small world, yea?

While on my way home, was stopped by this guy who introduced himself as BXXX, alright, forgotten his name. Anyway, he introduced a church programme to me, regarding youth issue. The million dollars question he asked:

Are you local?

The past insurance agents I was stopped by, asked the same question. I didn't take it to mind since it might be related to some policy issue.

Not sure whether will I spare my precious sunday for this event, which will be 2-3 weeks later. Sundays are for waking up late and family gathering.

Time to get jazz playing on my speaker and hit the bed.

Forgetful me.

Had a 6 hours crash course for Principles of Management the previous night. I was basically noting down the essential points and memorizing it without actually knowing what's it all about.

No doubt, if I did badly for this paper, I won't be the slight remorseful about it, already given in my best. Blame it on my poor time management, giving lots of attention to my Managerial Accounting and legal papers. It was pretty easy except that I screwed up on the last question. Never mind, it's over.

So that goes my 15% of my total assessment for my Hospitality and Tourism subject. I forgotten about the quiz. Went over to my subjects' portal just to find a notice stating the deadline for the quiz and it was suppose to be 5 pm the day before.

I wasn't expecting a miracle for this, penned down an email to Ms. Quah, the subject leader, who happens to be my lecturer and tutor. Without the slightest doubt, it's my fault alright. I told her how I forgotten about it and hope for a chance for those who has not done that quiz (quite a few actually).

Her reply was firm. No extension. She manage to squeeze in a consolation at the end of her reply. I'm not blaming her, it's my fault after all. Although I hope she could have shown some mercy.

Bah. Today isn't my day.

two down...

Took my Managerial Accounting and Legal paper today. Pretty alright for both papers, at least a pass isn't a problem.

I am so looking forward to the end of the mid semester test, a long deserved break and time to catch the latest blockbuster. Devoting two days for ushering duty and one day for lab test preparation.

Alright, time to get my Principles of Management revision started, later.

AGGRH.

Finally, after 4 years of endless torture dished out by me, my computer died on me. One moment the LEDs were flashing with activity, another moment later, the computer went dead.

I suspect the power supply unit overheated, no time for a thorough checkup with revision on the top of my priority. I'm praying hard that my hard disk data remain intact.

Spent some quality time back in school library revising for my papers tomorrow. School seems a little different from its usual self, it was quiet and cold, unlike normal school days where it was full of life. Free ride home in dad's car again after my revision, just too lazy to hop on the public transport with my notes and powerbook on hand.

I think I know everything, but I reckon there's still more to revise. oh well, I hate this lack of confidence.

later.

fwah! it's killing me!

so many things to learn, so little time. Trying to get the legal concepts in my mind and later, there's still the various cases I have to look through for application in my case studies.

I need more brain juice.

later.

My calling

Had this weird thought, is business really my calling? I given up on the engineering field due to my fear of mathematics, hospitality because of my shy personality. But is business what I want?

Do you really need to be academically qualified in the path of business to be a 9-5 white collar worker? My brother in law is an engineer by training but yet he's a banker.

I'm just confused over my choice. Anyway, it's too late for any amendment now.

Spent the afternoon alternating between revision and idling around the house. The mood just isn't right for me to get my revision done in an efficient way.

Got a zip drive from sis, compatible with both Mac and Windows. :)
Can't think of any use for it now, been using my trusty USB thumb drive for school and home usage, though I almost lost it on several occasions when I left it on connected to my computer.

Maybe I will use it as a decor on my study table :)

Was sleeping soundly when mom wake me up. On her hand, a greyish envelope addresed to me with Singapore Police insignia. Slowly, I teared off the envelope's sides and in small motion, revealing the content of the letter:

Result: PASSED

Alright, I am overjoyed but the thought of the approaching mid semester test sort of dampened my mood now.

One last test before you see Brandon on the road, the practical test. I swear I going to get it by year end. :)

Spent the afternoon trying to study. Managerial accounting was simple, just memorizing the steps and the formats. Will get it done by tonight and proceed to legal studies.

Oh well, just look at the amount of lawsuits I have to memorize by heart,

  • Carlill v. Carbolic Smoke Ball Co

  • Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain v. Boots Cash Chemists

  • Hyde v. Wrench

  • Entores Ltd v. Miles Far East Corp

  • and the list goes on and on and on...

Back to my revision. *sigh*

Rushed to school for my lesson in the afternoon. It was until I grabbed my laptop that I discover my existing laptop sleeve can't fits in my Powerbook. Dismissed the thought of hand carry, harmful to expose my new companion to the harmful environment of smog.

Felt assured after today Managerial Accounting. I daresay my group assignment grade will be satisfying.

The piles of printed papers consisting of last year papers to various notes are enough to make a psychological impact on me. Most of the subjects I'm able to handle without much fear, but for Principles of Management and Object Relational Database? I'll just drink dettol.

Alright, on a lighter side, any suggestion for a new name for my Powerbook? He's male, by the way. :)
Mid Semester test approaching fast and furious next week and I'm still struggling with quite a few of the subjects. I'm counting my blessings this time round. I just wish for a little miracle.

Volunteered myself for the Graduation event which will be held 2 weeks later on a thursday. Hope that the 2 days of my term break in exchange for the experience will be worthwhile.

Did this interesting quiz in the library, taken from Seventeen.com. Enjoy.

You have high-end taste, and wouldn't mind your room looking like something ripped from the pages of a design magazine. Luckily, there are ways to make it look sophisticated and pulled-together on a budget! Buy things secondhand from people with similar decorating styles. Look through design books for pieces you like, then try to find reproductions at stores with lower-priced lines, like Ikea. Overall, the key to making a space look classy, urban, and modern is picking a simple color scheme, using solid colors whenever you can, and sticking to furniture that's dark wood or metal with clean lines. If you're scared your room will look too cold and uninviting, add a comfy rug and extra-warm lighting--it will definitely be a place you'll love to hang out in!

Look out - Bump ahead

Isn't it disheartening when you realize life isn't fair? You worked hard for your papers, put in extra effort in your projects but just to realize someone could attain your level without evening putting in any effort, simply just leeching off others.

At the end of the day, it makes you look so much of a loser that you just think the extra effort isn't worth the trouble.

Give me a lemon.

Bought a database guide book (Fundamental of SQL) for my revision of the upcoming paper. Seems pretty alright except it's too wordy. The best part of the deal, guide books allowed for lab test. SQL Database for dummies anyone?

Headed to collect my little surprise after school alone despite the rain. Excellent service from them, allowing me to do lots of check and even open the door for me after I'm done. Just hope that my cheque doesn't ger rejected with a weird signature from my trembling fingers.

Decided I need backup after walking a distance with the little surprise that isn't that little after all. Found myself lazy to transfer bus or take a cab. Dad was there after a call, once again. :)

Join the Mac-volution.

Loved by insurance agents

Was stopped by a financial adviser on the way home. Not my first for this week. I was wondering do I have bold wordings on my forehead shouting up loud to everyone, "Come and get me, I need to be insured!".

As usual, told her I'm already insured and prepared to answer any questions whe would ask pertaining to my current policies. Took down my personal information and told me she would give me a call to check on my current policies. Trading name cards, anyone?

E-Business presentation went on pretty smoothly. Blushed a little during the presentation, no one noticed though, was hiding behind the LCD screen. I realize that if the both of us did not initiate the first step, no one will actually bother about today presentation.

Gonna bury myself deep in the company of textbooks after finishing my part for Hospitality and Tourism slides.

The little mad rush.

Rushed through Managerial Accounting group assignment with my group today. Monday blues in everyone of us, stoning at the blinking screen. What's a good way to blind someone? Force him to stare at a 12 x 100 Excel spreadsheet with 10 sub tables contesting for your attention.

Spent the rest of the afternoon studying Managerial Accounting with the smartest brain in the cohort. It was a little PBL session, a fusion of peer and self-directed teaching.

Headed for a jog in the evening. Still going strong with my stamina, even though it was 2 months since my last jog.

Term test approaching quickly with less than a week for revision. I'm praying for a little miracle to keep up my standard of work for quite a few subjects.
