Been busy these past few days, spending the nights revamping my system. Straight after I uninstalled the CPU-intensive Norton Internet Security, my Windows system was infected with trojans. Being online seems to be a dangerous liaison.
Getting Apache/MySQL/PHP to work on my Mac Powerbook was another nightmare. Typing lengthy commands all night long is just tiring. Not that Mac is hard to work with, as most people perceive, it's just my lack of Unix background.
So far, I'm out of luck after 2 nights of trying. I guess I gonna call it a day and spend my weekend trying instead of wasting quality study time.
Gonna be a busy week, Ricky just arrived from Singapore and I gonna play the tour guide. Need to meet up with the buyer of my Lexmark printer or else I risk losing the deal. And last of all, a New Year dinner with Ling and friends.
To add on my load, Mr Fernandez want us to rework on the previous week lab work so as to implement what we learn this week to previous week work. So now I have double workload on hand, this week and previous week. Great, a printed report to work on containing detailed explanation on our lab work.
Let's see, I still have my SAND and marketing research to work on.

Finally installed MySQL/PHP/Apache on my Mac Powerbook! It's 2.30AM now and I have a morning lecture at 8AM sharp. Gonna rush to bed.

Christmas feast
The aftermath from a lack of sleep plus alcohol is instant knockout. I was watching Lost in Translation after the night out with TB030 when I just slip into intoxicated state unconsciously.
Continued from where I stop off in the afternoon. Lost in Translation is about the friendship forged by 2 total strangers in Tokyo where language was a barrier. I was expecting love to blossom between Scarlett Johansson (playing Charlotte) and Bill Murray (playing Bob Harris). The ending was a surprise and sad twist to me. It's a nice movie, very in-depth, so it's either you like it or hate it.
Christmas dinner with Max, Zhi, Ronald and Ling over at this small pizza restaurant located at Katong. It was a mistake to order 2 large pizzas! We were practically stuffing the pizzas down. The tropical Hawaiian was great, better than the BBQ Chicken.
Kudos to the restaurant for their kind understanding and helping us to pack the pizza for takeaway. Even better, they helped to pack it individually for each of us.
Suppose to be a gift exchange over dinner. But the forgetful me forgotten to bring the present along. Sorry Max yea? I'll pass it to you the next time we meet.
Oh, saw Carol on my way home. Was trying to signal her without embarrassing myself on the packed bus. Gave up in the end, she was too engross with her friend.
Finally I manage to sell that Lexmark all-in-one printer away. Got it for free during the last SingNet internet promotion (oh great, they're giving iPod mini now), left it to rot at one corner until now. Don't really trust Lexmark though it's under Hewlett Packard. Still prefer my handy Hewlett Packard workhorse.
Has been a long and enjoyable weekend. Another 4.5 days of school before New Year.

Merry Christmas!
First and foremost, I would like to wish my friends and my readers here a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Thanks to James and his girl, AC and his girl, Peter, Faith, Michell and Noi for the birthday treat at Nooch. After Noi left to meetup with her guy, we headed to CHIJMES for our drinking session. Decided on CHIJMES after a long discussion on where to go. *chuckle*
Over at CHIHMES, we were pub hopping between these 2 pubs, Maracas Cocina Latina, a Mexico theme pub and OCHO Spanish Restaurant & Tapas Bar, a Spanish theme pub. Turn up that both pubs are under the same company serving identical drinks except for the cocktails and mocktails.
The cocktail that we ordered at Maracas Cocina Latina was great! But the whiskey over at OCHO tastes diluted.
Waited till Christmas before running off to the catch the last bus. Literally. We started to run when we saw our bus approaches. Yeah, the red light saves the day! Anyway, it wasn't the last bus, saw another service while waiting for dad to fetch me over at Aljunied MRT.
Thanks everyone for making Christmas eve such a wonderful moment. Should have bought my camera along eh?

It's never the same, like any other day.
Spent half of my birthday in school today. If not for the recent Ministry of Education policy, it's still a birthday during school vacation.
I like to thank all my wonderful friends for the birthday greeting. From the moment I woke up, my cellphone was already flooded with birthday greetings. I was a little chatty today during tutorial, even my friend noticed.
Thank you for the surprise, my 4 close friends in the polytechnic. I'm don't know how you guys did it, but it caught me unaware. Thanks for the birthday present.
French tutorial today was replaced with a movie watching session. Sadly, we didn't have a chance to complete the movie due to technical fault. It's a french comedy by the name of "Tanguy". French rocks eh?
Being the birthday boy, dad was there to transport me around. It's great without having to squeeze in public transport. Sadly, I did not complete my driving lesson during the vacation, else I would be driving. I promise myself, I must get my licence by mid of next year.

Merry Christmas and a Happy Birthday!
Finally sent out the Christmas cards this afternoon, after these few days of procrastinating. Still remain faithful to the good ol' way of season greetings by snail mail.
When I'm happy, I'm much more productive than usual. Had my haircut and spent the evening grooming my schnauzer.
It's the time of the year again. When I'm statistically older by a year and yet retain my childishness. *chuckle*
Sister delivered my birthday log cake in the evening. It's a Brandon's tradition for a log cake every birthday. *grin*
I'm looking forward to my birthday celebration. Heard that some of my sisters couldn't make it back in time, oh well.

Mood indicator: Red
Wasn't one of my day today with the chain of events that unfold slowly before me, in a cruel mockery manner.
First it was a heated discussion with my group mates. Not the whole group but just this one member. I know he's trying to be constructive, but he tried a little too hard. Being the impatient one, I seriously hate to go thru my explanation again and again without the slightest sight of comprehension.
My face glow into a fiery red during the debating. It was a 2 versus 1, with one guy and me against him and a clueless bystander. In the end, I decided to call the tutor in for explaining, only till then, did he sees the light. Then my friend asked me in private, "Are you angry? Your face turned a fiery red just now".
On my way home, saw my senior - Huiling. She's joining i-Guides too, cool isn't it?
I guess I will just end it here. Before I start my ranting again.

Confession of a compulsory liar.
I just did something horrible today. I don't know how did I manage to, but I did it with such flawless prefection that nobody could see it through. Somehow, I'm feeling guilty now, pondering how could I manage such a fest under such intense pressure. But I had to do it. I have my privacy to protect.
Another great session of Principles of Marketing, except for some disturbance from my tutorial mates, I'm enjoyed myself listening to Ms. Maggie tutorial.
Accompanied AC to Sim Lim Square to get his computer today. Initally I thought it was cancelled and I was less than willing to follow him since I planned to jog today, just like the previous week.
We spent 2 hours combing the whole building for the best deal until we settled on a shop which Michell has recommended. In the end, AC exceeded his budget by quite a huge margin. Personally, I felt that there is no point in cutting down on the quality if it is going to last you for more than 2 years or so. It's back to square one, once you realized that the computer is not up to par with your expectations and a need to upgrade arise.
An interesting encounter while helping AC with his selection. This lady came in the shop asked the assistant on laptops. Couldn't blame the assistant for not being able to help her, after all, they do not retail laptops. She turned to me and asked whether do I know about it.
I'm of course, more than willing to share with her my knowledge and personal experience with Centrino laptop. At the end, she shared some of her experience that is non-IT related. It's just so funny that she would share something like this with me.
Managed to get everything up and running except for the combo drive at 10PM. Maybe it's a motherboard of the budget category, they only bundled 1 ATA-IDE cable, which is less than enough.
Thanks for the KFC treat, and no, my dad didn't fetch me today, AC. Just don't want to trouble your dad.

gleeful me.
Not sure what's happening to me, what I'm in a joyous and helpful mood today. Perhaps a little too helpful for my own good. Must be the Christmas mood, which reminds me that I must start writing my Christmas cards and digging out my friends' addresses.
I'm so looking forward to a shopping spree with sister. Either this week or next. :)
Just printed 33 pages of this week notes. Can you imagine it? A semester consists of 16 or 18 weeks, at this rate, I will be printing a total of 600 pages per semester, excluding additional notes and past semester papers.
Printing in school's lab is totally out of the question. The lab is always full and scheduled with lessons from morning to evening.
Gonna research on the feasibility of purchasing a low end laser printer.
I'm so looking forward to a shopping spree with sister. Either this week or next. :)

Saturday shopping spree
Another bad experience with TDK product. Headed to Sim Lim Square to collect my combo drive after 5 weeks of waiting. To my horror, they replaced my black combo drive with a white version! I'm not fussy but a white drive is going to look so weird on my all-black computer chassis. I rejected straight on the spot and was told to wait for another replacement. Another month wait I guess.
Was at Suntec Mall with dad for the Pets' Fair/Show. Interesting sight over there.

Asia Food Fair next. As you know, eating is Singaporeans' favourite past time, so it was quite a crowd over there. We had quite a feast over there, sharkfin soup, sausages and Macau's fare (which I highly suspect originated from Japan or they simply claimed it's from Macau).

Shopping next! I spotted this long sleeve shirt from Timberland which doesn't fits me. Something about Timerland, it's always hard to find something fitting since most of their stuff are not for asians.

On our way back, we decided to have durians. I used to hate it when I'm young or so my dad claimed. But who cares? I'm a durian-lover now. :)
Just read through James' blog. Working hard to find a soul mate (As paraphrased from your blog) eh? I know love is in the air, with friends from TB030 getting attached.
But for me, there's nothing to hurry or worry about. Who cares about being single eh? What matter most to me is, the wait is worthwhile and a soulmate to last till the end of time.

Christmas, one week from today.
I guess my first impression of Philip Siow wasn't that accurate after all! My sister insisted that he was a nice lecturer after I told her my thought about him. Only at his second marketing lecture I realized how interesting it was.
I just hope he won't sidetrack frequently although it was fun listening to his life experience. We couldn't complete today lecture due to a lack of time from his sharing.

Are we ... still friends?
Can religion leads to a breakup of friendship?
I find myself distancing from my group of friends, which I considered them as buddies. The day before, I just gave a pretty weak excuse for not turning up for a birthday celebration for one of them.
They dispised nonbelievers of their religion. When I'm out with them, their fanaticism behaviour always put me off, but I simply laugh it off just to stay in the group. Peer pressure I suppose.
Sometimes, I'm irritated by their display name on Messenger, I could simply paste it here, but it's so distasteful, I doubt even nastiest tabloid will publish it.
I didn't know sleeping in the library could be so refreshing. I was so tired from the late night revision for my french test that I slept for 2 full hours! French test was fine, confused with thr formal and informal way of saying welcome, Comment vous en prie and Comment t'en prie.
Christmas coming next week! Not sure what will the plan be for this year. The previous year, I had a wonderful dinner with Jesslyn and friends for my birthday and a Christmas cum Birthday dinner with my family. Won't be celebrating with them I suppose, since each of us have our own clique to hang around with (sadly). But still, I'm still looking forward to a full Christmas meal with my family.

Incommunicado
Realized that my cellphone didn't receive any new messages ever since yesterday. My friends were asking me why didn't I reply to their messages. Initally I thought they got my number wrong until sister told me the same thing today. I don't have the habit of switching off my phone, remaining communicable 24/7 daily. I restart the phone and voila, I'm flooded with messages. One weird problem.
Spent practically two hours to get my own home server up for the sake of testing the PHP exercise from Open Technology. After trial and error, it works. Linux server anyone? Open Technology assignment was a challenge, but I love it. One good thing about programming, there's infinite solutions to a single problem, no template solution to follow.
Having my french test in the afternoon. Wonder how it's gonna be like, I'm so excited over it.
I'm happy that the notice board is 70% completed, just hope to finish up the whole thing and have everyone to stop asking me about how I'm progressing. You know, given a chance, I rather be the secretary that handles the paperwork but not publicity. Oh well, but hey, I do enjoy the photography task during events.
