Start off the day with The Straits Times, not for the current affair, since I only read at night. cellphones' ad! Aha! Been having the thought of upgrading my cellphone before my Kuala Lumpur trip, eyeing the Sony Ericsson K700i, price still going strong though.
Decided to visit Sim Lim Square since I won't be doing anything except staring at the wall. It was gonna rain but decided not to bring the umberalla. Felt weird holding my iPod on my hand since I 'm not carrying my usual sling bag.
Late lunch over at Burger King, actually prepared a coupon before leaving the house. Mushroom Swiss! Bleah. Quite a filling lunch, didn't know they include a box of chicken sticks (That's what you call that?).
Saw Wen Bin while crossing the road, woah. There he goes again with that "Bang-don!" rubbish. Anyway, he's on his way to collect cake. He's driving too...oh well. Asked what am I doing over there, window shop what else. Then he goes, alone? so sad? What's wrong with shopping alone, weird dude.
Read a few books over at Kinokuniya and got a box of shortbreads for my cookie jar. Joined mom for dinner like 2 hours after my late lunch. Chatted about lots of stuff, my sisters, my childhood, etc. This type of mother and son chat bring us a little closer.
Back at home, chatted with my buddy over at Down Under. Apparently life isn't going good for him, exams next week and he can't get the head of it. Affected by his friend's death caused by car accident, oh man. Aye, take care, mate.
In a good mood today, most likely becos' today work assignment isn't that heavy, so I could trash around and taking thing slowly.
Oh, the background song is Out of My Head by Fastball, many of my friends have been asking. Nice eh? Lyrics included for your listening pleasure. Enjoy.
Out of My Head by Fastball
Sometimes I feel
Like I am drunk behind the wheel
The wheel of possibility
However it may roll
Give it a spin
See if you can somehow factor in
You know there's always more than one way
To say exactly what you mean to say
Was I out of my head? Was I out of my mind?
How could I have ever been so blind?
I was waiting for an indication
It was hard to find
Don't matter what I say only what I do
I never mean to do bad things to you
So quiet but I finally woke up
If you're sad then its time you spoke up too

Where do you work?
Was chatting with my friend who is working at Heeren during the vacation. I think it's cool to be able to log in to MSN Messenger while working. Then she asked me, "where are you working during the vacation?" I was dumbfounded. "I'm not working. Staying at home." was my reply.
Generally, most students around my age are working during their vacation. Most people will go huh? if you tell them you are not holding a vacation job.
Maybe I should get a job for the next vacation. Work as Mac Evangelist or something.
The cactus wound I sustained last week at Ikea hasn't heal. Think I will see my doctor tomorrow.

Look! A new keyboard!
Using Creative Prodikeys as a keyboard just feel so weird and ... big? If you are wondering what's a Prodikeys, it's a music and PC keyboard. Took the initiative to search the picture for illustration.
Headed down to Sim Lim Square to get a decent keyboard. Searxhed around, Logitech's white keyboards look boring, can't trust BenQ neither can I trust Acer (Since both are under the same company), finally settled on a Microsoft keyboard. Also sent in my faulty TDK CD Writer for replacement.
Finally told mom about my trip to Kuala Lumpur. Strange that I only inform her when I 'm already in the final part of my planning. I know she trusted me, so didn't really seek permission beforehand.

So long, goodbye, keyboard.
Got the idea of doing some serious cleaning of my keyboard and mouse after reading Digiral Life, a supplementary magazine from The Straits Times. Cleaning the mouse was easy, unscrewed the rear side, wet tissue to clean away the scrolling wheel and exterior. Volia! Done in less than 3 minutes.
The keyboard involves more work, using a screwdriver to manually uncap all the keys. The junk that accumulated from the years of usage is extremely, gross. I think I took an hour and a half to wash each individual keys and remove the oh-so-gross unknown substances from the keyboard. I think I sprayed dettol a little too much, my keyboard refused to work after plugging in. Oh well, that was my favourite keyboard. It's a Hewlett Packard keyboard with japanese characters and blue LEDs. Think I will get a replacement tomorrow, typing on my Creative Prodikeys is just so weird.
Have you ever wonder, how life will be, beyond polytechnic education? For the males, it will be 2 years after National Service but for the females, it's straight after polytechnic.
For me, it's still the education path, entering varsity and get a degree before joining the work force. A diploma won't get you anywhere far, neither will a degree give you an edge over diploma holders.
The sight of diploma holders working in the lower hierarchy of an organisation and degree holders that couldn't get a job after getting their degree just tell us how competitive life is, in Singapore. You either climb up the social and education ladder or get left behind.
It's a dog eat dog world out there.

Knowing your root
Tiring day today. Woke up early to join Meiling and Ronald for tea at this traditional Hainanese coffee shop. Anything that has to do with my dialact attacts me, seriously I won't have wake up early if it's Coffee Bean or those hip hop cafe joint.
One familiar sight over there is the marble table. A traditional Hainanese coffee shop is never complete without marble tables. I do have one over my place, salvaged from my grandparents' coffee shop. I wanted to order thru hainanese, but dropped the idea. Don't want to embarrass them with my amateur hainanese. I think if dad and mom were there, they would have ordered in fluent hainanese.
Headed to Golden Miles Complex with Meiling to check on coach's availability. Enough seats for the 5 of us and cheaper than I thought. They offered us this first class coach which has massaging chairs, movie on demand right in front of you for each passengers and even serve meal! Yeah, you even got to chill out at the VIP lounge while waiting for the coach to arrive. Still deciding though, most likely won't go ahead with this first class coach as it gonna cost us SGD$20 more.
Meiling and I joined Ronald for dinner later on at Old Airport Market. Great food over there. Still remember the gang went there for supper after studying late at night over at Hock's house. Everything changed so much. oh well.
That's all for today, rather tired after today trip.

uh oh! That's the last train!
Meet up with Sharon and Peter at Dhoby Ghaut MRT. Was a little late, couldn't sleep the previous night, tossing around on bed. Went over Sharon's place to repair her computer. I think her house is cool! There's computer in her kitchen!
Stayed over for dinner and fix up her computer until it's kinda late. Couldn't network the 2 computers even though it could access the other computer's files. Finally give up on it, but at least you could surf on broadband connection now.
Reached the station at 11.30PM and to my horror, the last train departed. I was like, OH MY GOD! Peter and I were still happily deciding which train to stop to catch the last bus. Luckily there's still a few buses over at the interchange. Decided to take the bus that travels to Paya Lebar, still a long distance from my house.
The bus journey is extremely long, imagine from one part of Singapore to the other end, because it's pass midnight, it took us 50 min, can't imagine if it was during the daytime. Shared a cab later on with Peter.
Still planning the KL/Genting trip with Ronald and Meiling. Gonna be a 4 days 3 nights over at Kuala Lumpur and 2 days 1 night at Genting. Most likely be staying over at serviced apartment over at KL. Gonna be fun.

Rainy Orchard
The beginning of the rainy season? Been raining for the past few days this week. I just love the rain, especially when it get all dark and a cup of tea, ahhh...
Met my sister at Wisma Atria to shop for my blazer. Get my measurement done and gonna wait a few days. Parted way with my sister and brother-in-law after that. Headed down to Kinokuniya. Been quite out of touch with my books, The De Vinci Code is one book you gonna get! Next is, Eats Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation. The latter I borrowing from Wen Bin. Time to start my reading habit again.
Was about to take the train home when dad called. He's nearby and asked whether I need a ride. Great! Arranged to meet up at Grand Plaza Parkroyal Hotel. Shopped a while at Shaw Centre - Isetan and the DFS (Duty-free Shop) nearby. Over at DFS, it's crowded with japanese students, reminds me of the days back in secondary school when we have exchange programme.
Browsed through the Burberry boutique, nothing interesting. While waiting for dad outside the hotel, Noi saw me. I didn't notice her, until she called my name.
The TB030 gang meeting up at night to watch football at Chijmes, still deciding whether to join them as sunday is my family day. Hmm.

Academic year overview
As I said before, Judgement Day came early today. Received mine result through sms in morning.
I'm quite satisfied with my result, although it could have been much better if I did put in more effort. Maintained my GPA and cohorts' standing. Top 25%, distinction and those mumbo jumbo stuff.
Finally, will be taking these subjects next semester,
Heck, no pure computer subject, I would have love it as much as Object Relational Database.
Suppose to celebrate with the usual peeps, but backed out at the last minute. Spending some quality time at home with family. :)
Watched Super Size Me in the evening. Quite informative, really give a new meaning to the usual family oriented McDonalds. Doubt they are not that social responsible after all.

All things swedish and chinese
Met up with Ronald and Meiling again. Went Ikea this time. Did enjoy ourselves over there, the wonderful furniture display and most importantly, FOOD! Alright, I am such a glutton. We shared a plate of fries with nuggets, chicken wings and I had a plate of kid size spaghetti.
Bought a cookie jar and photo frame over there. Gonna keep my yummy cookies in this cool jar next to my study table and frame up my family portrait.
Shopped around Queensway Shopping Centre, just discover that besides the normal sports apparel the mall is famous for, they have quite a few spectacles shops. Been wanting to change my spectacles for quite some time, aye, time to save up.
Headed to Chinatown for dinner. Claypot rice and dumpling for side dish. I always like to have an early breakfast at Chinatown, but being such a night owl, it's always lunch time when I woke up. One day, when I got my driving license, I gonna drive my family for breakfast, cool eh?
Gonna be Judgement Day today. What else but the release of exam result. I'm not going to rant about how badly I did for my subjects, just so fed up with myself. I think tomorrow I will just stay in my room and do some self reflection for my lousy result.
This week just isn't a great week to get my result. Bad luck seems to be wherever I am. That bloody bird incident, the fall over at Geylang Serai and pricked my whole left hand with cactus at Ikea. AGGRH.
Wish me lots of luck.
Photos from today outing, enjoy.

Eat Drink Man Woman
Another day spent on fine food. Time for my regular jogging regiment.
Went for a haircut over at this new saloon. Before that I was contemplating whether should I cut off my overgrown lock, you see, I suddenly have a liking for long fringe.
Rushed home after my haircut to wash up, running late for my appointment with Ronald and Meiling. Dad drove me to Parkway Parade and even feed my wallet, great eh? As usual, we went window shopping before late dinner at the first level food court. Normal food court fare, nothing special.
Met Keng Hock while on our way to the bus stop. Proudly shown me his iPod 30GB, I don't suppose he got it first hand since 30GB is not in production, superseded by my 15GB edition. Anyway, the 3 of us took a bus down to Geylang Serai to enjoy the atmosphere over there.
Didn't had quite a good experience, this malay teen was like trying to pick a fight with us. Totally childish. I bet he must have a poor childhood. No offence, this isn't a racist statement, just an individual that spoilt my mood.
Bought the famed Ramly Burger and a dozen of prawn fritter. Great stuff, man. Abandoned the two of them halfway since dad was here to fetch me.
Don't really know what am I going to do tomorrow. I'm suppose to fix my friends' computers, Sharon and Meiling, but I'm just plain lazy.
Exams result out in 1 day time, wish me luck.

The most unproductive day ever. Slacked whole day long at home, glued to my computer. I really need a life.
My boring afternoon starts the moment I woke up at 1. Retrieved newpaper from my front gate and got a shock of my life, Home users face fines or jail for illegal downloads. Bloody americans. Apparently it's part of the FTA. First they force us to sell chewing gums, now this. Please just vote Bush out.
Doesn't really affect me, I got my stuff through much safer method than Kazaa or BT. :)
Watched Pearl Harbor until evening. Missed the broadcast by channel 5, oh well. Just food for thought, do you know that it is rumoured that Roosevelt (the wheelchair bounded President) delayed informing Pearl Harbor the imminent attack by Japan and divert key units out of Pearl Harbor? During that period, the Congress is against the idea of sending troops to Germany to aid Churchill. By enraging americans, he sucessfully convinced the Congress to send troops to foreign land.
Suppose to meet up with Ronald and Meiling at Geylang Serai. It was raining heavily in the afternoon and not wanting to get my shoes dirty, rejected the idea. Maybe I will make a trip down personally tomorrow after my haircut.
Alright, gonna read the newspaper again (twice per day) before I hit the bed.

Movie, Shop, Eat
Suppose to be stsying at home waiting for the courier, but went out instead. Tried to change it to another date but they had dispatched. oh well.
Watched Exorcist: The Beginning with Ronald. Nice show, will give it a 3 out of 5 rating. The old school of frightening movie-goers still works. It's quite in-depth, you need to read between the lines to actually know what's going on.
Went shopping at Hereen and Isatan afterward. A billabong shirt caught my attention. I will be back for it. :)
Met up with Meiling and had our late dinner at Gluttons Square. If you have been in touch with our Singapore Tourism Board effort in promoting Singapore, you will know where is it. It's located somewhere near Centrepoint where they sell great local fare. But at that kind of price, you can have a mini feast in Malaysia.
We had fried kway teow, egg melette with oysters, chicken rice, barbecued sting ray and desserts. Beginning to miss my weekly trip to Malaysia with my parents last time.
Headed down to Little India. Didn't had quite a good experience there, blame the cursed bird for what it did to me. Went Mustafa to shop around. Didn't make it for public transport and don't want to bother my dad since it's well after midnight. Midnight transport still affordable since Little India is kinda near to my place.
Exam results offically out this saturday. Expecting the sms to be sent on wednesday or friday. I dread this moment of anticipation, AGGRH.
